JGDM WSDP (Civil - Management planning)

The Joe Gqabi District Municipality includes some of the poorest areas in South Africa.  The municipality consists of four local municipality i.e. Elundini, Gariep, Maletswai and Senqu.   The diverse landscape and economical activities causes this area to be unique and complicated from a water management perspective.  Newground Projects has been responsible for the compilation of its Water Services Management Plan since 2006.  The emphasis of the plan was to enhance the understanding of current water infrastructure and the simplification of the management thereof.  It can be noted that the many of the recommendations identified in the WSDP have been implemented.  This had a positive impact on the level of water services currently experienced.  It can be reported that the municipality is becoming a progressive municipality and that management took note of interventions required.
